Have you Heard about Haiti?   5 Km Walk/Run

December 4, 2004 began cold and clear as a crowd slowly gathered at Keeneland race track. Ninety seven would register to run or walk the 5 kilometer course, supported by a band of volunteers and well wishers. In the end, the clear winners were the people of Haiti. The run was a volunteer effort to raise awareness and financial support for relief work there.

The start at 9 am.

On the course

Reynold, from Haiti, does not run but appreciates those who care about his people.

David, also from Haiti.

The Lutz family come early. All run. One will be the fastest woman on the course.

Jan, Co-chair of the Companion Diocese Committee, turns out to run.

The joy and agony of being first overall.

The fastest woman: twelve

years of age.

Sarah takes home a first place in her class.

Ximena had a vision for raising awareness about Haiti. She led the work to plan and organize the event. She is pleased with the turnout and enthusiasm of those who came.
