I count three Gods, Father, Son, and
Holy Spirit. So what happened to monotheism?
Despite appearances, Christians are monotheistic.
We believe in one God in three "persons."
God the Father begets the Son. Both are the
fullness of God, and yet they are not each other.
The Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son.
It too is God, but it is neither the Father nor the Son.
When we talk about the Trinity, we tend to use the
phrase "holy mystery" a lot.
Really, take my word for it, there is only one God.
Even after three years of seminary, I'm confused
too. If you want to know more you'll have to drop
in so we can talk.
We love mystery and so we love questions. The
truth is in the search, not the answer.
