Buildings and Grounds

St. Mary’s is located on an acre of rolling land in the heart of Middlesboro and is adjacent to the city hall and near other public buildings.  The church building is a Gothic frame structure of the Victorian Era.  The open arched nave can seat approximately 100 persons.  The sanctuary reflects the church’s English heritage and contains many of the original furnishings.  Antique stained glass windows on all walls of the sanctuary add beauty to the church’s presence.  The 14’ feature window is of the Art Nouveau style and features Jesus the Good Shepherd.  The undercroft is an office, Sunday School classroom, and an area for fellowship.

Also on the church grounds is the rectory that has approximately 2,500 square feet of living space.  The first floor contains two bedrooms, one bath, kitchen, dining room, and an office.  The second floor has a bedroom, playroom, and bath.

The grounds on the east side of the church are currently being developed into a garden area, a proposed plan for which includes walks and a gazebo.  This will be available for outdoor celebration and meditation.
