Diocesan Information

The Diocese of Lexington includes the eastern half of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. There are thirty-seven parishes scattered across three geographic regions of the Diocese.

The Diocese of Lexington was created by the Diocese of Kentucky for purposes of missionary strategy in 1896.  The Right Reverend Stacy Sauls became the sixth Bishop of the Diocese in September of 2000.

Mission work is very important to our Diocese and we have many active programs of outreach.   The Diocese supports a College ministry; an AIDS ministry; the Starfish program (which supports the Diocese of Haiti); St. Agnes House (a residence for medical patients receiving treatment in Lexington and their caretakers); the Cathedral Domain (the Diocese Camp and Conference Center), and Summer Reading Camp programs (for low performing elementary school readers).

The Diocesan newspaper, The Advocate, has won numerous national awards.
